Job Overview

The New York Opportunity Network is seeking a dedicated individual to support our Fellows Program as an Instructor & 11th Grade Program Assistant. This part-time position offers the opportunity to work with high school students in NYC, providing facilitation and general support for their personal and career development.

As an Instructor, you will be responsible for preparing weekly classes and events, facilitating workshops, and monitoring student learning. You will also assist with recruitment info sessions, chaperone field trips, and engage in peer-learning sessions with other staff members.

This role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a passion for working with teenagers. If you are committed to making a positive impact on young lives, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • OppNet Fellows Program Support (85%):
  • Prepare weekly classes and events for OppNet Fellows (in-person and virtual);
  • Facilitate weekly personal and career development and college prep workshops (in-person and virtual);
  • Provide support for program-wide curriculum review and development;
  • Monitor and support student learning and take necessary action to ensure standards of high-engagement;
  • Assist to document all participant attendance and interactions and maintain student records;
  • Chaperone virtual and in-person career exposure and college prep field trips;
  • Assist with student recruitment info sessions at partner high schools;
  • Assist with recruitment interviews and related prep;
  • Liaise with student families when necessary;
  • Engage in peer-learning sessions with other OppNet staff to continuously improve the organization's collective quality of instruction.
Learning, Development, and Program Reflection (15%):
  • Participate in organization-wide DEI learning sessions, equity working groups, and optional identity-based affinity groups;
  • Attend weekly team meetings, and if scheduling allows - All Hands meetings and All Staff meetings;
  • Develop professional and personal intentions as they relate to OppNet's DEI commitment, incorporated into performance feedback;
