Career Development Specialist for I/DD Community

We are seeking a skilled Career Development Specialist to join our team at YAI, a leading organization dedicated to providing innovative services in the I/DD community since 1957.

About YAI:

YAI has been operating in New York State, northern New Jersey, and California, with a team of over 4,000 employees and supporting over 20,000 people of all ages in the I/DD community today.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will work closely with individuals with I/DD to identify their strengths, interests, and career aspirations. You will conduct vocational assessments, develop personalized career plans, and provide job development and coaching services to support their employment goals.

You will also facilitate services in alignment with state authorizations and timelines, request extensions as needed, and ensure accurate and timely billing and case notes.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a Master's Degree in vocational rehab counseling or a related field, approved by ACCES-VR. You should also have one year of experience in vocational rehabilitation or a suitable field, or a satisfactory combination of education, experience, and training approved by ACCES-VR.

Familiarity with standardized testing and assessments is essential, as well as basic knowledge and awareness of I/DD and other disability groups, employment laws and regulations, emotional intelligence, counseling skills, advanced written and verbal communications, and basic computer knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

An in-depth understanding of and experience conducting standardized assessments is highly desirable.

Compensation:

The salary for this position ranges from $20.67/hour to $26.45/hour, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
