Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Intern to join our team at The Mannik & Smith Group. As a Geotechnical Intern, you will play a key role in supporting our geotechnical engineering team on various projects related to soil mechanics, foundation design, and geotechnical investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fieldwork: Assist in conducting field investigations, including soil sampling, test pit excavations, and in-situ testing such as standard penetration tests (SPT) and cone penetration tests (CPT).
  • Laboratory Testing: Participate in laboratory testing of soil and rock samples, including moisture content, grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, and consolidation tests.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in collecting field data and laboratory test results, and perform basic data analysis to support engineering calculations and design.
  • Report Writing: Assist in preparing geotechnical investigation reports, design calculations, and technical documentation.
  • CAD/GIS Support: Utilize CAD/GIS software to assist in drafting site plans, cross-sections, and geotechnical mapping.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an Associates, Bachelor's, or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management / Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related fields.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work in outdoor environments as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
