About the Role

Champion Foods is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician III to join our team at our state-of-the-art bakery in Gaffney, South Carolina. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing general electrical and mechanical support to our manufacturing facility, ensuring the smooth operation of our equipment and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facility systems, sharing knowledge of applicable mechanical concepts and principles with other maintenance personnel.
  • Electrical Support: Provide troubleshooting and repair of facility electrical equipment, including single-phase AC circuits, three-phase AC circuits, and DC circuits.
  • Independent Work: Execute position requirements with little or no supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and independent reasoning.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Generate various types of reports and documents, including shift summaries, test results, project write-ups, and work order tasks.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to reduce or eliminate issues associated with equipment, performance, quality, and safety.
  • Spare Parts Management: Assist in determining the specifications and requirements of spare parts under the department's spare parts program.
  • Special Projects: Perform special projects as assigned by maintenance management in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with outside vendors and equipment manufacturers, as well as with internal personnel.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and neat working area, adhering to all OSHA, FDA, and Food Plant regulations.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least six (6) years of industrial maintenance experience or advanced education in electrical, mechanical, electronics, or ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Assessment Level: Must obtain the minimum assessment level required for a Maintenance Technician III as established by the maintenance department.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to use independent reasoning and judgment.
  • Attention to Detail: Pay great attention to detail, with the ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical manuals, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Education and Training: Willingness to continue education and training, with the ability to learn and utilize maintenance management software programs.
