We strive for equitable pay for all employees and aim to be more transparent with our pay practices. For this role, we offer an estimated hourly wage range of $18-$25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Description: Medical Plasma Collection Specialist

The Medical Plasma Collection Specialist plays a vital role in supporting plasma center operations. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as you will interact with donors, answer their questions, and provide guidance on eligibility requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Determining donor eligibility, ensuring proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
  • Evaluating donor reactions, following SOPs for medical emergencies, and referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when needed.
  • Supporting the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Managing employee incidents and determining whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalency of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • A valid EMT-Paramedic license in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactory completion of FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
About the Role

As a Medical Plasma Collection Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, interacting with diverse individuals, and contributing to the success of BioLife Plasma Services.

You will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor reactions, and providing support to employees. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build rapport with donors, address their concerns, and ensure a positive experience.

How You Will Contribute

In this role, you will contribute to the following aspects:

  • You will evaluate donor reactions, which occur at the facility, and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.

Your ability to communicate effectively, work under pressure, and maintain confidentiality will be essential in this role.
