About Our Program

At Applied Materials, we're committed to empowering the next generation of manufacturing engineers. Our New Product Manufacturing Engineer (NPME) program is a unique opportunity for recent graduates to develop the skills and expertise needed to succeed in this exciting field.

As an NPME, you'll work closely with our design engineering, product marketing, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to transform new designs into marketable and manufacturable products. You'll gain hands-on experience with our high-tech products and develop a deep understanding of our operational strategies.

Through a mix of classroom training and on-the-job experience, you'll learn the skills needed to succeed in this role, including analysis of 3D solid models, development of manufacturing strategies, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

As part of our program, you'll rotate between locations in Santa Clara, CA and Austin, TX, gaining exposure to different products and challenges. At the end of the one-year program, you'll have the skills and expertise needed to take on a permanent role within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze 3D solid models to identify fit/alignment issues and improvement opportunities

• Develop manufacturing strategies in alignment with marketing and supply chain strategies

• Transform new designs into effective product option structures

• Conduct virtual build alignment sessions with volume manufacturing customers

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and procure manufacturing-specific tooling

• Develop manufacturing documentation for supply chain and manufacturing technicians

• Partner with volume test manufacturing engineers to create test fixtures and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical engineering, or related field

• Good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale

• Ability to travel to various Applied Materials sites and suppliers
