Job Summary

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy Manufacturing Engineering group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing high-quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce products for Tesla Energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds
• Determine and procure equipment necessary for all manufacturing processes used to build the product
• Conceptual equipment development, balancing product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
• Work with equipment integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures for medium to high-volume production
• Determine layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
• Provide DFM input to design team for process and yield improvements
• Support building, debugging, validation, and equipment duplication efforts, and fine-tune equipment for release to production
• Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery to ensure robustness and quality
• Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of equipment

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development
• Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
• Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
• Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (prefer Fanuc)
• Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
• Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience
