Role Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for conducting and documenting assessments in accordance with licensure. This role involves completing health histories and admission processes, ensuring appropriate interventions or referrals are made. The LPN will also identify discharge planning and educational needs, provide patient care, and perform personal care tasks. Communication of patient progress and workload management are essential components of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist registered nurses or licensed practitioners in identifying patient needs and establishing care priorities based on various factors including age and lifestyle.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in department-specific functions while adhering to established standards of care and policies.
  • Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to implement integrated patient-centered care plans.
  • Delegate nursing interventions to qualified personnel as necessary.
  • Recognize early warning signs of changes in patient conditions and respond appropriately.
  • Communicate relevant patient information effectively with families and team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Promptly report patient-reported symptoms of pain following standard procedures.
  • Participate in health education initiatives approved by licensed practitioners.
  • Assist in discharge planning and provide education to optimize patient understanding.
  • Perform additional duties as required to meet departmental needs.
Certification Requirements:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse certification from the North Dakota Board of Nursing or a Compact State Agreement.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment.
  • Completion of an IV Certification Course within 6 months of employment.
