Position Summary:

We are currently seeking experienced Sterile Processing Service (SPS) Technicians to support the healthcare needs of the US Department of Veterans Affairs. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities including sterilization, processing, decontamination, tray assembly, equipment handling, and quality assurance. Technicians are expected to utilize their knowledge of asepsis, microbiology, sterilization techniques, and medical equipment processing.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement aseptic practices to mitigate infection risks
  • Demonstrate understanding of microbiology and sterilization processes
  • Expertise in autoclaving and chemical sterilization techniques
  • Experience with high-level disinfection systems and flexible endoscope reprocessing
  • Recognize damaged instruments and adhere to operating room protocols

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician or equivalent
  • Completion of relevant training programs
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing Service

Educational Background:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks
  • Must wear personal protective equipment for the duration of shifts

Special Requirements:

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is mandatory
  • Willingness to relocate may be necessary
  • VA Public Trust Clearance is required

Work Schedule:

  • Availability required Monday through Sunday with five potential Tours of Duty
  • Position Type: Full-time

Compensation:

Hourly wage ranges from $28.72 to $35.00, determined by background, experience, and skills.
