Accounting and Procurement Supervisor

Job Responsibilities

Ensures financial integrity in the areas of procurement, accounts payable, receivable, and inmate trust management. Conducts thorough reviews, analyses, and processing of various data and reports in alignment with the policies and procedures of the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Department of Accounts (DOA). Aids in the management of Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System (FAACS) inventories. Acts as the Assistant Accountant, providing support to the Business Manager during audits and evaluations of financial documents and reports. Supervises the Accounts Payable, Fiscal Tech, and Accounting departments in their absence. Serves as the backup for the Facility Surplus Property Coordinator.

Essential Qualifications

Possesses a solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, along with procurement practices, demonstrating the ability to perform precise and detailed work involving numerical data, mathematical computations, and financial reporting. Recent experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Familiarity with eVA, Cardinal, and Corrections Information System (CORIS) is preferred, as well as knowledge of Offender Trust. Recent experience with office procedures and equipment, including computers, calculators, and copiers, is essential. Proven ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms. Capable of interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and guidelines while working independently.

Additional Considerations

Completion of post-secondary coursework in basic accounting or bookkeeping, or equivalent training, is preferred. A working knowledge of state financial programs, including FAACS, eVA, and Cardinal, is advantageous.
