Position Summary

The Fleet Operations Specialist within the Logistics team will oversee a substantial fleet of over 1,000 vehicles and manage an annual budget exceeding $100 million across our Supply Chain Centers in the U.S. and Canada. This role involves collaboration across various departments, including the Continuous Improvement and Environment & Sustainability teams, as well as direct engagement with suppliers to uphold performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Enhancements

  • Design and implement operational enhancements and standards through strategic fleet and material handling equipment (MHE) planning.
  • Analyze and resolve practical challenges related to transportation logistics.
  • Collaborate with fleet vendors to develop maintenance and equipment solutions.
  • Manage support activities, establishing milestones and tracking mechanisms.
  • Review and interpret safety protocols, operational instructions, and procedural manuals to enhance consistency across North American Supply Chain Centers.
  • Present analytical findings to diverse stakeholders, including executive and operational leadership, utilizing effective communication strategies.
  • Identify and monitor actual cost savings or avoidance through implementation.
  • Investigate data variances to ascertain root causes of transportation-related issues.
  • Advise centers and vendors on industry best practices.
  • Evaluate transportation methods to determine the most cost-effective delivery solutions.
  • Oversee fleet vendor performance metrics.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize fleet operations, including increasing electric vehicle usage to meet environmental targets.

Special Projects

  • Engage in collaborative efforts with Supply Chain teams on various projects and initiatives.
  • Act as the lead for fleet and MHE implementation in new supply chain centers.
  • Conduct SWOT analyses to formulate the Transportation Business Continuity Plan, ensuring consistency across the Supply Chain.
  • Regularly update and maintain data to incorporate new factors into operational planning.
  • Initiate fleet specifications aimed at enhancing driver safety, maximizing uptime, and reducing operational costs.

Business Relationship Management

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain IT to support WMS, TMS, and other system maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of product traceability applications for WMS/TMS.
  • Work alongside leadership and finance teams to process invoices related to WMS, TMS, and fleet equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet and logistics operations.
  • At least 2 years of project management experience.
  • Experience with routing and fleet telematics for 2+ years.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in diverse settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel across the U.S. and Canada as required (15-25% travel).
