We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at the City and County of San Francisco. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using various modalities, including X-ray, CT, and MRI. You will work closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and high-quality imaging results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures using fixed or portable equipment, including X-ray, CT, and MRI.
- Position patients and select technical factors based on knowledge of radiologic science and patient assessment.
- Apply principles of radiation safety and use appropriate filters, cones, and protective clothing to obtain high-quality images.
- Assess patient condition and take action consistent with standards, including monitoring medical equipment and reporting problems.
- Document procedures and events in patient medical records and departmental logs.
- Transport patients using gurneys, wheelchairs, and beds, and transfer patients to and from the exam table.
- Schedule procedures and patients, transfer paper orders into an electronic order entry system, and produce, process, and collate images and paperwork.
- Receive and assist patients and other customers, answer departmental telephones, and may be assigned to coordinate patient flow.
- Perform venipuncture and CPR, and assist physicians in preparing and administering contrast media.
- Train student technologists in the science and practice of diagnostic imaging.
- Participate in departmental Quality Improvement efforts.
- Clean imaging equipment, supplies, and procedure rooms, and report failures and problems.
- Maintain patient medical records and date integrity using Radiology and hospital IT systems.
- Assist physicians and providers in resolving imaging questions or issues.
- Possession of a current license issued by the State of California as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
- Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- ARRT certification in at least one advanced modality, such as Mammography (MM), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Quality Management (QM), Bone Densitometry (BD), Cardiac-Interventional (CI), or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI).
- Possession of valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate issued by the American Heart Association.
- Possession of a valid permit to use Fluoroscopy equipment issued by the California Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Branch.
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. The position also requires standing for long periods, lifting patients, and using heavy equipment.
