The Oil, Gas & Chemical global practice undertakes intricate projects across the sector, encompassing midstream and logistics facilities, refining operations, chemical manufacturing plants, and opportunities in renewables and emerging markets. This position empowers you to contribute innovative solutions in defining and developing engineering, procurement, and construction projects while engaging directly with clients and utilizing your technical acumen.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Chemical Process Engineer will collaborate within an integrated design team in our Oil, Gas & Chemical division to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Execute complex projects requiring advanced engineering methodologies.
  • Formulate and assess plans for significant initiatives.
  • Apply front-end loading processes and best practices to ensure cost-effective process engineering and project execution.
  • Oversee the development of all process design calculations and create deliverables such as hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, process simulations, Heat and Material Balances (H&MB), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Lead chemical engineering design efforts from conceptualization through to design completion.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of proposed applications when data is limited or testing is warranted.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard engineering techniques and criteria.
  • Engage in work that involves conventional engineering practices, potentially incorporating various complex features.
  • Coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and training to junior staff members.
  • Regularly communicate with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in marketing activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program with a minimum of 7 years of chemical engineering experience; EPC project experience is preferred.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 7 years of chemical engineering experience; EPC project experience is preferred.
  • Or a Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering with 6 years of chemical engineering experience; EPC project experience is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard engineering practices and procedures, along with strong familiarity with chemical design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with process simulation software (e.g., Hysys and/or Aspen, HTRI) is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and a methodical, analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conduct quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
