Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our leaf collection crew as a Leaf Collection Worker. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including cutting grass, removing leaves and debris, trimming shrubbery, and clearing and landscaping grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance tasks such as cutting grass, removing leaves and debris, trimming shrubbery, and clearing and landscaping grounds.
  • Clean out catch basins using shovels and pitchforks; sweep and clean sidewalks and streets.
  • Clean buildings, wash floors, windows, and clean restrooms; stock restrooms with paper products.
  • Clean public grounds by picking up trash.
  • Plant, water, fertilize, and trim trees and plant materials.
  • Work as a member of a leaf collection crew.
  • Dig graves with a shovel; assist with funeral activities.
  • Operate push mowers and trimmers.
  • Assist in other crews as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Working knowledge of the methods and techniques applied in unskilled manual labor.
  • Working knowledge of standard hand tools, operation of light equipment, and materials used in assigned work.
  • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned work.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and respond courteously to citizens.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions.
Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in outside environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold with snow and ice. The employee is subject to noise, vibration, and workplace hazards, including proximity to moving mechanical parts or exposure to chemicals, oils, fuels, and atmospheric conditions due to exposure to fumes, odors, dust, and oils.
