About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Hellas Bakery & Pita, Inc. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading the kitchen and ensuring the highest quality of food production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Run BOH shifts and ensure effective and efficient operations, including food prep, cooking, inventory management, and supervising kitchen staff.
  • Partner with the GM and/or designated managers/chefs to create prep lists, assign production duties, and ensure adequate inventory levels.
  • Perform regular line checks to ensure quality of all menu items and make adjustments as needed.
  • Purchase and order food products and supplies, and assist with tracking and controlling food costs.
  • Ensure effective communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams, and partner with designated managers/chefs to interview, hire, onboard, train, and develop kitchen staff.
  • Monitor, address, and document individual employee performance, and take disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Work a variety of days and shifts, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, and ensure that kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, and sanitation requirements.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a lead line cook or sous chef required.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of professional cooking and knife handling skills, with the ability to follow recipes and manage kitchen inventory.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Food Handler Certificate or ServSafe certification preferred.
