Job Summary:The Medication Care Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality care and services to our residents by administering medication and treatments in a safe and organized manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Administer medication and treatments to residents in accordance with their individualized care plans.
- Document medication administration and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with the Resident Care Director and Wellness Nurse to ensure medication updates are received and implemented.
- Ensure medications are passed according to scheduled times and document any refusals or missed doses.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information, including medication records.
- Report any resident concerns or issues related to medication administration to the Resident Care Director or Wellness Nurse.
- Restock medication carts and maintain a clean and organized medication room.
- Assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
- Assess residents to determine need for as-needed medication and document and report accordingly.
- Count narcotics with another Medication Care Specialist or Lead Care Manager each shift.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Previous experience working with seniors preferred.
- Ability to make choices and decisions in the best interest of residents.
- Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
