Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Heavy Equipment Operator is essential for the successful completion of various construction and maintenance projects. This position involves the operation of specialized machinery to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate a range of heavy machinery, including but not limited to backhoes and excavators.
  • Conduct routine maintenance activities such as landscaping, asphalt, and concrete work.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Perform additional related tasks as necessary to support operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience that meets the job requirements.

Special Requirements:

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the necessary endorsements.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in compiling and recording data accurately as per established guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills for clarifying details within set policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate and control machinery and tools necessary for job functions.
  • Competent in performing basic mathematical calculations and measurements.
  • Capable of following instructions provided in various formats, including written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated judgment and creativity in managing diverse tasks that may change frequently.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position involves heavy physical demands, requiring the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds frequently. The role also necessitates:

  • Hearing: Ability to perceive sounds at normal levels and communicate effectively.
  • Mental Acuity: Capacity to make sound decisions based on logical reasoning.
  • Repetitive Motion: Frequent use of hands and wrists in operating machinery.
  • Speaking: Ability to convey information clearly and accurately to team members.
  • Visual Acuity: Close visual skills for tasks such as data analysis and equipment operation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Heavy Equipment Operator may work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, noise, and other potentially hazardous elements. Safety protocols must be adhered to at all times.
