Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at the City of Kyle, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marketing and public relations, with experience in developing and implementing effective communication strategies.

The Communications Specialist will assist with the planning, development, and implementation of marketing and public information campaigns and programs for the City. This will include writing, designing, and disseminating news releases, brochures, newsletters, calendars, electronic publications, reports, and correspondence with the media and the public.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also have a strong understanding of social media platforms and be able to create engaging content to promote the City's brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote the City's brand and services
  • Write, design, and disseminate news releases, brochures, newsletters, calendars, electronic publications, reports, and correspondence with the media and the public
  • Coordinate media relations with local, state, and national media, including print, online, radio, and television
  • Develop marketing and advertising plans and related collateral material
  • Assist with the implementation of the community brand through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders/partners
  • Create social media graphics and video animations for City media channels
  • Maintain the City's websites and assist in the redesign of the sites when needed
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on the effectiveness of communication tools using analytics

Requirements:

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, advertising, mass communication, or an equivalent field
  • A minimum of three years of experience in media or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
