Join our team at Management & Training Corporation (MTC) as a Treatment Specialist at the Kyle Correctional Center Programs Unit in Kyle, Texas.
About the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Treatment Specialist to join our team. As a Treatment Specialist, you will be responsible for providing didactic sessions, presenting education and life skills classes, and maintaining a Therapeutic Community within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement didactic sessions and education and life skills classes to assist offenders with basic education on these topics.
- Maintain a Therapeutic Community (TC) within the facility, working closely with correctional staff to create a living environment that is peer driven.
- Guide and assist offenders in complying with facility rules and regulations, supervising offender work functions in accordance with program policies.
- Monitor offender behavior and report incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff.
- Assist with development of an Individual Progress Summary for each offender, reflecting evaluation results and comments about the offender's level of participation and quality of completion in the SAFPF/IPTC programs.
- Adhere to the core functions within practicum guidelines of Department of State Health Services LCDC-I licensure and Texas Certification Board of Addictions Professionals CCJP-A certification.
- Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
- Associate's degree in the field of psychology, sociology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, education, nursing, or health is preferred; related experience is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
- Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
- Must successfully complete Correctional Awareness Training (CAT), as approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
- Within 180 days of employment, must have a letter of registration as a Cl from the Texas Department of State Health Services of current certification as a CCJP-A as approved by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals.
- Must successfully complete annual in-service training and pass an annual background, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.
