Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Vehicle Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of vehicles, as well as managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain a fleet of vehicles, including panel trucks and cargo vans, to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Manage the receipt, inspection, and storage of packages and materials in the mailroom and warehouse.
  • Coordinate the delivery and installation of equipment and furniture to HHS offices throughout the region.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, and minor repairs.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, mileage, and usage.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Business Services Manager to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding cargo and mail delivery.
  • Provide training and coaching to new hires on safety practices and job duties related to state vehicle usage.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent travel throughout the state, including overnight stays. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
