Role Summary

The Medical Office Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facility. This position involves a variety of administrative tasks that support patient care and enhance the overall efficiency of our services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by managing sensitive patient information appropriately.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing communications with patients, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments while maintaining precise and organized patient records.
  • Utilize medical software systems, specifically MEDENT, for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate patient care and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via phone, offering assistance and information as needed.
  • Monitor patient accounts for accuracy and compliance with office policies, taking necessary actions to rectify discrepancies.
  • Collect and verify insurance information required for billing purposes.
  • Determine and collect insurance co-payments at the time of service, providing receipts as necessary.
  • Manage the collection, logging, ordering, and processing of specimens for testing, ensuring organization throughout the process.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma is required.
  • Completion of a medical secretarial training program is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a medical or clinical clerical role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Experience with MEDENT software is advantageous.
