Position Overview

The Practical Nursing Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients, ensuring accurate assessments of both physical and mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Preparation: Ready patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring their comfort and understanding of procedures.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete all required documentation in patient medical records, adhering to the clinic's established charting policies.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with patients, colleagues, and visitors to foster a supportive environment.
  • Professional Development: Take responsibility for personal growth and professional development within the nursing field.
  • Quality Improvement: Actively engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and educational programs.
  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with the Care Coordination team to manage patient communications effectively.
  • Order Management: Place orders under the supervision of a healthcare provider, ensuring compliance with protocols.
  • Patient Care: Assist in various aspects of patient care, including administering medications under supervision, providing patient instructions, performing basic laboratory procedures, and assisting with medical interventions as necessary.
  • Environment Maintenance: Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for both patients and visitors.
  • Instrument Management: Clean, sterilize, and store medical instruments in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Supply Management: Restock and prepare medical suites for patient examinations, and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Patient Support: Respond promptly to the needs of patients and their families, providing necessary information and assistance.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold high standards of confidentiality regarding patient information.
  • Training Compliance: Complete all required continuous training and education to maintain competency.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to personal protective equipment requirements and bloodborne pathogens procedures.
  • Communication Management: Screen telephone calls and take messages from callers, ensuring proper follow-up.
  • Problem Resolution: Initiate appropriate actions in response to any issues that arise.
  • Service Information: Provide information about available services to patients and their families.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Schedule appointments, confirm, and reschedule as necessary.
