About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Engineering teams in the GTA region. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing strategies to bring innovative ideas to life within projects while building the teams' technical capabilities.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering technology, with superior demonstrated skills in the technical focus area. They will also have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and under budget, while successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously or a major project of significant size and scope.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the performance of the Engineering teams, ensuring that people are assigned to the business in a way that creates the most value and maximizes utilization of resources.
  • Promote and drive a culture of engagement in the region in line with Ausenco's core values and in support of Ausenco's people and talent development programs.
  • In collaboration with Vice President, develop a business plan for the region, which aligns with and helps facilitates the achievement of the corporate strategy and provides meaningful opportunities for our people.
  • Support the business planning cycle, including monthly re-forecasting, by developing budgets and operational plans.
  • Support recruitment by defining the required range of skills and expertise to meet job demands and service client needs.
  • On large projects, alongside Project Managers, create and execute project work and resourcing plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Provide oversight and governance to project delivery and execution.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to handle daily client interactions, enhance customer satisfaction, deepen relationships, and develop project scope and teams based on clients' business needs.
  • Oversee and/or lead the development of project estimate for mid to large projects, including subcontractor negotiation.
About You

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional with a strong background in engineering technology. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor degree in engineering or applied science.
  • Licensed with the applicable regulatory association.
  • 15+ years' proven engineering delivery and project management experience with an engineering consulting firm; mineral processing and construction experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience leading and guiding teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing proposals and delivering presentations.
  • A strong background in engineering technology, with superior demonstrated skills in the technical focus area.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and under budget, while successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously or a major project of significant size and scope.
  • The ability to create and share a sense of direction, give clear direction to individuals and teams, and willingness to coach and mentor others to build business capability for the future.
  • A good commercial sense and experience expanding and developing business with new and existing clients.
  • Understanding of Financial Reports and project and operations budgets.
