About Our Client

Our client is a well-established Design/Build General Contractor based in SE Michigan, with a focus on Commercial, industrial, and turn-key ground up projects. They have a strong reputation across SE Michigan with clients and sub-contractors, and are looking for a skilled Superintendent to grow into a senior role.

Job Description

The key responsibilities of the Superintendent include:

  • Actively managing and maintaining safety on-site, including toolbox talks, safety checklists, and continuous observation for safe work practices in compliance with all OSHA regulations and corporate Safety Manual.
  • On-site field supervision, monitoring and enforcing quality workmanship, and directing, coordinating, and facilitating meetings for owners, subcontractors, architects, and local authorities.
  • Developing site logistics plans to maximize productivity and minimize impacts to building occupants, running weekly subcontractor coordination meetings, and securing municipal inspections as necessary during the entire construction process and for the final Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Coordinating material storage on-site with trailers and equipment, determining initial job set-up requirements, maintaining an organized and clean site, and developing and maintaining on-site Subcontractor, Owner, and Municipal relations.
  • Overseeing the creation and completion of the punch-list process, ensuring subcontractors are working per construction documents, scheduling and facilitating owner training and commissioning of equipment, and anticipating, planning, and coordinating all site activities.
  • Maintaining overall project schedule using Microsoft Project in coordination with Project Manager, scheduling of all trade and material deliveries, developing and maintaining weekly Three Week Look-Ahead schedules, and maintaining as-built drawings, photos, and documentation.
  • Documenting key or pertinent conversations and phone calls, maintaining on-site document control including project binders, shop drawings, construction drawings, and any other relevant construction documentation, and completing detailed Daily Reports.
  • Keeping project drawings current, continuous review of drawings and details, becoming familiar with all contract provisions, managing the cost of all General Conditions items, and ability to interpret subcontractor questions and compose correspondence (RFI's) to architects and engineers.
  • Managing submittals and RFI process in coordination with Project Manager, documenting subcontractor requests for additional work and informing Project Manager, communicating daily with Project Manager, and miscellaneous general labor on an as-needed basis.
  • Involvement with the implementation of the existing ISO 9001 program, and willingness to travel preferred.
Requirements

The Successful Superintendent will have:

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience.
  • 5+ years of construction superintendent experience.
  • College degree in the related field is a plus.
  • Must have multiple project experiences in excess of $5 Million.
  • Strong sitework background, computer, and scheduling skills required.
  • Utilize current technology - tablet / iPad and construction-related applications.
  • Procore experience is a plus, but not required.
