We are seeking an Urban Property Compliance Specialist to join our team at the City of Norfolk, VA. As a key member of our Department of Neighborhood Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the maintenance and safety of properties within our city.

About the Position:

  • As an Urban Property Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial structures to ensure compliance with Virginia Maintenance Codes and local ordinances.
  • You will work closely with property owners, tenants, and contractors to identify and address any issues or concerns.
  • Additionally, you will prepare reports, maintain records, and testify in court as necessary.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in building construction, inspection, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical trades is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Property Maintenance Inspector in accordance with Virginia Certification Standards (VCS) is expected within 18 months of employment.

Benefits:

  • This position comes with a competitive salary estimated around $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • A one-time signing bonus of $5,000 is offered to successful candidates.
