Position Overview

This role is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of personnel and managing resource distribution for direct construction tasks within Tilson's Outside Plant division. The individual will coordinate the efforts of Tilson employees and manage Micro Trenching (MT) crews to fulfill specific project requirements in a dynamic work environment. The primary focus of the Field Construction Manager is to ensure that construction timelines align with customer expectations and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all safety protocols. Supervise field construction operations, including oversight of in-house teams, subcontractors, and inspection processes. Collaborate with the Market Lead to organize and schedule field activities and resources necessary to complete project scopes. Forecast construction start and completion timelines, identifying potential issues that may lead to delays. Communicate challenges to the Market Lead and suggest solutions to maintain project schedules. Accountable for the overall success of construction initiatives, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets. Strong skills in construction management, reporting, and budgeting are essential. Identify and manage additional subcontractors/resources to support various construction efforts, ensuring quality and adherence to schedules. Understand project requirements and capabilities, sourcing suitable local vendors that comply with necessary regulations and licensing. Demonstrate a commitment to quality construction practices, ensuring timely project closeout and delivery. Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure adherence to the construction schedule.

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or Associate's Degree. Some college education is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in managing outside plant construction or project execution. OSHA 10 certification or higher is required. Extensive experience in the OSP communications sector, ensuring high-quality and safety standards. Experience in utility pole line construction is advantageous. Strong time management skills and a background in construction quality and safety. Eagerness to learn new skills, software, and technologies. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Earth. Ability to interpret construction drawings and assist others in understanding project plans. Commitment to safety and ownership of safety culture. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in this role. Direct knowledge of key estimating and financial components of building OSP infrastructure. Traffic safety certifications are a plus.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel, approximately 25%.

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson's driving eligibility criteria.

Tilson emphasizes transparency in compensation; the expected pay range for this position is between $70,000 and $120,000.
