Position Overview

This role is responsible for leading and managing a team, as well as resource allocation for direct construction operations within Tilson's Outside Plant division. The individual will coordinate efforts among Tilson employees and manage Micro Trenching (MT) crews to accomplish specific tasks in a project-oriented setting. The primary objective of the Field Construction Manager is to ensure timely project execution that aligns with customer expectations and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all safety regulations.
  • Supervise construction field operations, including oversight of in-house teams, subcontractors, and inspection processes.
  • Collaborate with the Market Lead to coordinate and schedule field activities and resources necessary to fulfill project requirements.
  • Anticipate construction start and completion timelines, identifying potential issues that may lead to delays. Report challenges to the Market Lead and suggest solutions to maintain project schedules.
  • Take responsibility for the overall success of construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets. Strong skills in construction management, reporting, and budgeting are essential.
  • Identify and manage additional subcontractors/resources to support various construction initiatives, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Understand project scope and capabilities, sourcing suitable local vendors that meet project and licensing requirements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality construction practices, ensuring timely project closeout and delivery.
  • Collaborate across teams and departments to ensure adherence to the project build schedule.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or Associate's Degree.
  • Some college education preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in managing outside plant construction or project builds.
  • OSHA 10 certification or higher required.
  • Extensive experience in the OSP communications sector, ensuring high-quality and safety standards.
  • Experience in utility pole line construction is advantageous.
  • Strong time management skills and a focus on construction quality and safety.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills, software, and technologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Earth.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and assist others in understanding project plans.
  • Commitment to safety and ownership of safety culture.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field.
  • Preference for candidates with recent experience in this role.
  • Direct knowledge of estimating and financial aspects of OSP infrastructure development.
  • Traffic safety certifications.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel, approximately 25% of the time.

Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 21 years old to meet Tilson's driving eligibility criteria.

Tilson is committed to pay transparency; the expected salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $120,000.
