Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic I/Deployment Pool Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our deployment pool, you will be responsible for supporting deployments to various locations, both within the continental United States (CONUS) and outside of the continental United States (OCONUS). This role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing deployment schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Deployment Support
- Support deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations, as required.
- Perform and inspect organizational and intermediate level maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment, as required.
- Aircraft Maintenance
- Inspect, service, repair, and overhaul aircraft, aircraft engines, and other critical components to ensure airworthiness.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns, and drills.
- Power Plant Maintenance
- Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc.
- Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct breaks.
- Test engine operations, using testing equipment to locate source(s) of malfunction.
- Replace and repair damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and test equipment to complete repairs.
- Aircraft Services
- Perform aircraft services, including engine washing/cleaning, parts lubrication, and maintenance checks.
- May specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.
- Other Responsibilities
- Must be able to work with little-to-no supervision.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.
- Education
- Must have a High School Diploma or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
- Experience
- Minimum of one year of actual Aircraft Mechanic maintenance experience required.
- Skills and Knowledge
- Must have basic knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair.
- Must possess basic knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance.
- Must know theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories, and components, theory of flight, and electronic flight controls.
- Must be able to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
- Certifications and Clearances
- Must achieve a passing grade in all required courses/certifications for continued employment, as needed.
- Employee must meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening, as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date.
- Must have had an Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months.
- Must be able to maintain a DoD security clearance commensurate with the assigned duties during employment.
- Must have valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.
- Must have current/active U.S. Driver's License.
- Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster. Accommodations may be available under limited circumstances.
- Education
- Associate Degree in a relevant career field.
- Experience
- Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
- RPA Deployment Experience.
- Prior experience as a Defense Contractor.
- Aircraft Mechanic experience within the last 10 years.
- MQ-9 experience as an Aircraft Mechanic.
- MQ-9 Aircraft Composite Repair / Replacement Experience.
