Job Summary

The Student Ambassador position is a key role in recruiting students to the School of Education and Human Sciences at KU. As a representative of the university, you will be responsible for outreach and engagement with prospective students, focusing on high-achieving students, students from diverse populations, and education preparation program students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with prospective students and families to provide information about the School of Education and Human Sciences and the university.
  • Staff the welcome center, providing excellent customer service and responding to inquiries.
  • Participate in recruitment and transition events, including summer orientation, to promote the university and its programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the university.

Requirements

  • Be a KU undergraduate student in good academic standing, pursuing a degree in Sport Management.
  • Have previous experience working with the public, as demonstrated through application materials.
  • Be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours during the semester term of the appointment, or meet one of the following conditions for summer periods: have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester, be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours, be enrolled in summer session, or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have strong knowledge of the School of Education and Human Sciences and its academic requirements.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have knowledge of university offices and academic programs.
  • Be able to establish rapport with peers, students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Set a positive tone for interaction, demonstrating responsibility and respect for others' rights, feelings, lifestyles, and backgrounds.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Have experience managing social media accounts on behalf of an organization.
  • Be able to work in a team and be flexible.
