Position Overview

As a vital member of the Army National Guard, you will serve as the primary line of defense for the health and well-being of both civilians and Soldiers during emergencies and natural disasters. Your role as a Health Care Specialist will be both rewarding and impactful, allowing you to utilize your skills in various medical settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide immediate medical assistance to casualties in the field

• Support both outpatient and inpatient medical care

• Educate Soldiers through Combat Lifesaver and First Responder training programs

• Oversee the medical readiness and management of supplies and equipment for Soldiers

Skills Development

• Techniques for patient care

• Advanced medical procedures

• Skills in plaster casting

Essential Qualities

• A passion for helping and caring for others

• Strong communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure

• Interest in scientific fields such as chemistry, biology, and psychology

• Attention to detail and precision in medical tasks

Through comprehensive training, you will acquire the expertise necessary for a successful career in civilian medical facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers. Potential career paths include emergency medical technician, medical assistant, medication aide, or physician's assistant.

Training and Benefits

In the Army National Guard, you will receive paid training while gaining valuable skills. The training program includes 10 weeks of Basic Training, focusing on fundamental Soldiering skills, followed by 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) tailored to your specialization.

Requirements
  • Must enlist in the Army National Guard
  • High school diploma or GED required
