Through comprehensive training, you will acquire the expertise necessary for a rewarding career in civilian healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers. Opportunities may also arise in roles such as emergency medical technician, medical assistant, or physician's assistant. Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the EMT level or higher is required for this position.

Compensation and Training

Instead of incurring costs for training, you will receive a salary while you learn. In the Army National Guard, you will gain valuable skills while earning a steady income and qualifying for educational assistance.

Training for Health Care Specialists includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop fundamental Soldiering skills, followed by 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which combines classroom instruction with practical patient care experience. The length of AIT may vary based on your chosen specialization.
