Job Responsibilities
As a Paramedic - Per Diem - Express Care, you will provide direct and indirect patient care duties and assessment under the guidance and delegation of a registered nurse. Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by the registered nurse
- Maintaining skill level to perform patient care tasks and interventions within scope of practice after competency validation, including:
- Intravenous catheter insertion
- 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm recognition
- Orthopedic splint application
- Laboratory specimen collection and processing
- POC waived testing
- Oxygen therapy administration and monitoring
- Administering medications and intravenous fluids and monitoring outcomes as delegated by registered nurse following provider order and hospital policy after competency validation
- Documenting care provided and patient's progress toward attainment of desired outcomes in electronic medical record
- Completing the intake assessment specific to the department and documenting it in the EHR
- Initiating treatment and testing based on department protocols
- Recognizing high-risk patients and situations and communicating with charge RN to coordinate patient placement
- Performing additional job-specific requirements and other duties as assigned after competency validation
