Internal Medicine Physicians are highly sought after in Massachusetts, especially with hospitals looking for dedicated professionals to join their family medicine practices. This locums opportunity is a great chance for experienced physicians to cover maternity leaves and contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative team.

About the Job

This hospital-based family medicine practice is seeking a skilled Internal Medicine Physician to fill multiple maternity leaves. The ideal candidate will have experience in adult, pediatric, and obstetrics care, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Practice Overview

  • Part of a multi-disciplinary team: 9 Physicians, 1 PA, and 3 NPs
  • No new patient intake; all patients are pre-established within the system
  • Fast-paced with a mix of adult and pediatric patients
  • Patient load: Typically 20 patients scheduled, with an average of 16 seen per day
  • Flexibility to tailor patient volume based on experience
  • Appointments: 15-30 minutes, based on clinician preference and experience level
  • No on-call duties
  • Saturday shifts: Physicians rotate through 4-hour Saturday shifts (roughly every 7th-8th Saturday) preferred but not mandatory
  • Medicare/Medicaid population with a higher cancel rate

Requirements

  • MD/DO with Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • Experience in family medicine, including adult, pediatric, and obstetrics care
  • Ability to manage a busy, high-volume practice
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment
