Job Announcement

This position includes a signing bonus of $2,500 (full-time) for new county hires.

ABOUT THIS POSITION: Under supervision, this role is integral to a comprehensive adult services program. Key responsibilities include:
  • Conducting investigations in response to reports of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation involving older adults and incapacitated individuals.
  • Serving as a policy expert and contributing to the development of protocols and procedures.
  • Assessing the need for protective services and collaborating with clients and their support systems to arrange necessary services.
  • Responding to emergency cases to stabilize situations.
  • Attending court hearings and providing professional testimony.
  • Participating as a resource and member of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Making public presentations to raise community awareness about available services.
  • Assisting the unit supervisor and covering in their absence.
Illustrative Duties

Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing service plans, advocating for clients, investigating complaints, representing the agency in court, and providing training on social work topics.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of social work principles, current social service challenges, and regulations. Ability to analyze case information, communicate effectively, and maintain professional ethics.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree, plus two years of professional social work experience. A master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of required experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee will be required to complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience in Adult Protective Services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Job involves administrative tasks supporting advocacy and protection for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Requires mobility to work with clients and community groups.
  • Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview and may include a practical exercise.
