Job Title: Sports Instructor

Under the guidance of the Sports Director or Coordinator, the Sports Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering various Youth Sports programs to participants aged 3-17. This role also involves serving as a liaison between the director and staff, facilitating effective communication and program coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each work shift.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate Youth Sports programs for YMCA participants.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to coordinate and promote Youth Sports programs within the community.
  • Ensure programs align with YMCA of South Florida's core values, policies, and risk management procedures.
  • Provide a safe and inclusive environment for participants, adapting programs to meet individual needs and abilities.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding program progress, achievements, and concerns.
  • Attend YMCA functions, such as staff meetings and program events.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development training and attend coaches' meetings as required.
  • Support the training and development of volunteers in Youth Sports coaching.
  • Follow YMCA of South Florida's risk management procedures by reporting incidents or accidents to the Program Director and/or Human Resources within 24 hours.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a letter of intent to graduate.
  • Two or more years of experience in Youth Sports or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification, obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish, or proficiency in other languages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with organizational and detail-oriented skills.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to undergo a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening.
