Senior Financial Coordinator

As a Budget Assistant with Creative Financial Staffing, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our non-profit clients.
We are seeking an experienced Budget Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 3 years of experience in budgeting procedures. This position is located in Fairfield County and offers a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute to a positive cause with a team-oriented organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and prepare budgets for new grants and renewal applications for programs to be submitted to funding agencies and/or internal departments.
- Summarize and provide data concerning year-to-date expenditures and balance of available budgets for the Finance Director, Program Directors, and the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
- Develop and maintain a Cost Allocation Plan for budget development. Prepare personnel/salary distribution schedules for budget preparation of various grants. Coordinate information with Human Resource Department and Payroll Department.
- Meet with the Program Directors, Finance Director, and Executive Director to update them on current budget expenditures.
- Be responsible for budgetary monitoring/forecasting.
- Develop resolutions for submission to the Board of Directors for approval for each grant to be submitted to the funding source.
- Analyze expected over/under expenditures based on current spending trends of the various programs. Suggest corrective action to the Executive Director, Finance Director, and Program Directors when requested.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Expertise in MS Excel
- Familiarity with budgeting procedures and general knowledge of accounting principles.
- Able to organize extensive and varied work in an orderly manner meeting required deadlines as specified by the Finance Director and funding sources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar disciplines OR Associate's degree with applicable experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Nonprofit experience strongly preferred
