Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the City of Oklahoma City team as a Construction Equipment Operator II. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, including earth movers, graders, and cranes, to perform construction and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as earth movers, graders, and cranes, to perform construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) required.
  • 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a construction or maintenance setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to heat, cold, humidity, rain, and snow. The employee may be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in areas with hazardous materials. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.

Physical Requirements
  • Strength enough to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Stamina enough to exert oneself physically throughout the workday.
  • Mobility enough to continuously move one's body from place to place.
  • Flexibility enough to bend, twist, and reach out to operate the controls, pedals, levers, etc. on equipment used.
  • Coordination enough to climb up to and down from equipment and to operate the controls, pedals, levers, etc., on equipment used.
