As a Fleet Service Writer, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and acting as a liaison between customers and service technicians when cars or other vehicles need servicing or repairs. You will enter detailed repair malfunctions in the service center computer system and prepare detailed instructions for service technicians to include repair parts. You will also act as the service receptionist when dealing with customers at vehicle check-in and handover.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms, clarifying descriptions of problems, conducting inspections, test driving vehicles, checking vehicle maintenance records, and examining service schedules.
  • Verifies warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and documents, explaining provisions and exclusions.
  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor.
  • Prepares repair work orders (WO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required, obtaining approval signatures, and opening (WOs) in the service center database.
  • Maintains customer rapport by explaining repairs and estimated vehicle return times.
  • Obtains and provides contact telephone numbers, answers questions and concerns, arranges towing and temporary transportation if needed.
  • Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and by reading manufacturer's publications.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and by exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Completes daily reports and coordinates vehicle pickups.
Requirements:
  • Most recent (4) years automotive or truck experience
  • High school diploma
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • A valid Georgia driver's license
