The Rehabilitation Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the clinic environment to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Under the supervision of Physical Therapy (PT) and Occupational Therapy (OT) providers or Chiropractors, and reporting to the clinic manager, the Rehabilitation Support Specialist will deliver patient care, assistance, and direction.

The ideal candidate will contribute to maintaining high levels of patient satisfaction and therapist productivity.

The Rehabilitation Support Specialist must demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail; exhibit diplomacy and excellent interpersonal skills; and be capable of creative problem-solving.

The Rehabilitation Support Specialist will perform all duties in accordance with the Illinois Physical Therapy Practice Act, the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act, or the Illinois Medical Practice Act, as well as the ethical standards set forth by the APTA, the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics, and the American Chiropractic Association Code of Ethics.


Key Responsibilities:
The Pathways and Opportunities Ahead

- Provide patient care, assistance, and guidance.

- Implement care plans under the direction of PT/OT/Chiropractic providers.

- Properly set up and adjust exercise equipment.

- Assist in the setup and administration of modalities (e.g., electrical stimulation, ultrasound, hot/cold packs, etc.).

- Employ effective educational techniques, including demonstration and cueing, to ensure patient comprehension of exercises.

- Monitor patient safety and responses to exercise intensity.

- Communicate patient performance with PT/OT providers.

- Manage clinic flow by:
- Monitoring patient arrivals.
- Ensuring timely patient starts for scheduled appointments and keeping patients informed of any delays.
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout the clinic, including waiting areas, examination rooms, and all equipment.
- Ordering supplies to keep the clinic adequately stocked, under the manager's direction.

- Perform essential front-end tasks, including but not limited to check-in, collection of co-pays/financial responsibilities, answering phones, and scheduling future appointments.

- Communicate with the PT/OT and Chiropractic referral team regarding patient insurance benefits.

- Manage clinician schedules (e.g., patient confirmation calls, rescheduling as necessary).

Supervisory/Management Scope:
No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

- CPR certification required (certification provided through Duly Health and Care).

- High School Diploma.

- Familiarity with common medical terminology and abbreviations.

- Understanding of principles, contraindications, and precautions related to therapy modalities.

- Ability to identify proper patient setup on equipment and make necessary adjustments.

- Knowledge of movement planes and ability to demonstrate correct exercise positioning.

- Team-oriented mindset.

- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
