Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Math Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students to join our team at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind. As a member of our faculty, you will provide classroom instruction for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, deafblind, and other disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans according to grade level Standards of Learning with appropriate accommodations
  • Monitor Student Progress through data collection
  • Modify instruction based on analysis of student data and performance
  • Ability to design and implement appropriate instruction for children with hearing loss
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, and special needs of children with disabilities
  • Ability to develop effective instructional strategies and methods and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid Virginia teaching license issued by the Board of Education with an endorsement in special education – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Pre-K-12 is preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required or must be obtained per school policies
  • Hold a valid Virginia Driver's License and submit for review by DMV
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching in a classroom setting with special needs students who have sensory impairments is preferred
  • Ability to work with students across all grade levels inclusive of pre-k through high school
