Position Title: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Overview:
We are in search of a passionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support our dedicated team in providing essential speech and language therapy services. The SLPA will play a crucial role in assisting licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in implementing therapy strategies and enhancing the learning experience for students with communication challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Therapy Sessions: Collaborate with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists to facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing students' speech and language difficulties.
  • Execute Therapy Plans: Adhere to and carry out therapy plans designed by SLPs, incorporating tailored exercises and interventions that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Assist with Evaluations: Participate in the administration of assessments and screenings to gauge students' speech and language capabilities.
  • Track Student Progress: Maintain accurate documentation of students' progress, ensuring thorough reporting as required.
  • Collaborate with Educational Staff: Work in conjunction with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to foster students' overall growth and academic success.
  • Provide Classroom Support: Offer additional assistance to students within the classroom, helping them apply skills learned in therapy to their daily academic activities.
  • Prepare Therapeutic Materials: Develop and organize therapy resources, including visual aids and interactive tools, to enrich therapy sessions.
  • Uphold Confidentiality: Ensure the privacy of student records and information, adhering to legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Special Education, or a related discipline.
  • Certification: Valid California SLPA license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience: Previous experience in educational or clinical environments with children is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment, and proficiency in office software and therapeutic tools.
  • Personal Attributes: Empathetic, patient, and dedicated to supporting students in achieving their communication objectives.

Working Conditions:

  • Schedule: Full-time position during standard school hours, with potential for occasional meetings or professional development.
