Position Title: Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Location: Yuba City, CA

Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to support our educational initiatives in Yuba City, CA. The SLPA will play a crucial role in assisting licensed Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in providing effective speech and language therapy services to students, helping to create and execute therapy strategies, and contributing to a supportive learning atmosphere.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Therapy Delivery: Collaborate with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists to conduct both individual and group therapy sessions for students experiencing speech and language challenges.
  • Execute Therapy Strategies: Implement therapy activities and plans designed by the SLPs, focusing on exercises and interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Support Assessment Processes: Aid in the administration of evaluations and screenings to assess students' speech and language capabilities.
  • Track Student Progress: Monitor and document the progress of students, maintaining precise records and generating reports as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Educational Staff: Work in partnership with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to enhance students' overall development and academic success.
  • Provide Classroom Support: Assist students in the classroom, helping them apply skills and strategies learned during therapy to their daily academic tasks.
  • Prepare Therapeutic Materials: Develop and organize therapy resources, including visual aids, worksheets, and interactive tools to enrich therapy sessions.
  • Maintain Confidentiality: Uphold the confidentiality of student records and information in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Special Education, or a related discipline.
  • Certification: Valid California SLPA license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children in educational or clinical environments is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capacity to work collaboratively within a team, and proficiency in office software and therapeutic tools.
  • Personal Qualities: Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to assisting students in achieving their communication objectives.

Working Environment:

  • Schedule: Full-time role during standard school hours, with occasional meetings or professional development sessions outside of regular hours.
  • Setting: Primarily within a school environment, with interactions occurring in classrooms, therapy rooms, and potentially through virtual platforms.
