This role is crucial in assisting students with communication challenges and enhancing their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Therapy Assistance: Collaborate with licensed Speech-Language Pathologists to conduct individual and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing students' speech and language disorders.
- Plan Implementation: Execute therapy plans and activities designed by SLPs, ensuring that interventions are tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Assessment Support: Aid in the administration of assessments and screenings to assess students' speech and language capabilities.
- Progress Monitoring: Document and track the progress of students, maintaining comprehensive records and generating reports as necessary.
- Collaboration: Work in partnership with educators, parents, and other school staff to promote the overall development and success of students.
- Classroom Support: Provide additional assistance to students within the classroom, helping them apply skills learned in therapy to their daily academic tasks.
- Material Preparation: Develop and organize therapy materials, including visual aids and interactive tools, to enhance the effectiveness of therapy sessions.
- Confidentiality Maintenance: Uphold the confidentiality of student records and information in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Special Education, or a related discipline.
- Certification: Possession of a valid California SLPA license or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience: Prior experience working with children in educational or clinical environments is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a strong capacity for teamwork and proficiency in office software and therapy tools.
