Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Officer to join our team in Arlington, VA. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for protecting personnel, information, property, and business continuity by detecting, deterring, observing, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control access to and within the building, including administering safety screenings and requiring employees and visitors to display proper passes or identification.
  • Escort and closely observe various personnel, with special emphasis on foreign nationals, maintenance personnel, and people without security clearances.
  • Enforce security and safety rules and directions.
  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
  • Operate emergency equipment, such as Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Protective Mask.
  • Respond to potential medical emergencies and perform first aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Observe and immediately report suspicious, illegal, unsafe, or unsecure activities or people.
  • Check and report on equipment, security containers, doors, and computer, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and telephone equipment/systems.
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies and take appropriate action.
  • Support business continuity and pandemic response plans.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal reports.
  • Ability to administer safety screenings of employees and visitors.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and outdoor environment.
  • Ability to stand in one place for extended periods.
  • Ability to use senses to detect and report security and safety violations.
  • Ability to work any shift (day, evening, or early morning) on all days of the week and holidays.
  • Minimum of one (1) year performing similar security officer duties in a government environment.
  • Secret clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • High school diploma.
  • Certified in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) First Responder - Awareness Level.
  • Qualified and certified as an Unarmed Security Officer in accordance with the laws and regulations of the State of Virginia.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment with a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time.
