Our research teams conduct studies on diverse criminal-legal system and justice issues, providing actionable insights to policymakers and practitioners. Our policy & expert assistance team provides hands-on support to jurisdictions in areas of reform, helping them reduce incarceration and improve public safety.

We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join our People team. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring fair treatment and compliance with organizational policies and employment laws. You will handle employee complaints, disputes, and performance matters while working closely with managers and supervisors to provide training on topics such as performance management and communication techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate employee complaints and potential policy violations.
  • Lead workplace investigations, including intake, planning, interviewing, writing reports, and communicating outcomes.
  • Determine follow-up plans for investigations and other related matters.
  • Maintain administrative records related to workplace investigations.
  • Provide expert guidance on Employee Relations processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Develop and lead training programs for managers on topics such as feedback and communication techniques.
  • Visit program sites to build relationships with staff.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist or related experience, including 3-4 years of investigation experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 per year, based on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes healthcare, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, as well as a 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching. We prioritize mental health care for our staff and offer services like Talkspace and Ginger. Our hybrid work arrangement offers three days onsite per week at our midtown Manhattan location with occasional travel within the five boroughs and Newark, New Jersey.
