Position Overview

The Senior Radiation Oncology Physicist plays a pivotal role in leading clinical initiatives within the Medical Physics team. This position is essential for assisting the Chief Physicist in managing departmental functions, which encompass the specification and procurement of radiation-generating apparatus, calibration of treatment devices, and oversight of dosimetry and health-physics instruments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review radiation treatment documentation and spearhead departmental projects aimed at clinical advancements.
  • Instruct staff on the principles and regulations governing radiation therapy physics, dosimetry, and safety protocols.
  • Exhibit expertise in specific modalities or processes, demonstrating documented experience and the capability to independently oversee operations.

Role Summary

Under the guidance of the Chief Physicist, this role entails providing clinical leadership in medical physics services within the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Senior Physicist will lead the innovation and development of advanced treatment technologies, including but not limited to Complex Radiation Therapy, SRS/SRT/SBRT, Brachytherapy, Proton Therapy, and FLASH Therapy.

Collaboration and Oversight

Work closely with medical professionals to design and adjust effective radiation treatment plans for patients. Oversee treatment plans crafted by Dosimetrists and engage in the development and execution of equipment monitoring, calibration, and safety assessments.

Technical Support

Provide expert assistance in formulating treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy, ensuring patient monitoring and adherence to established policies, procedures, objectives, and quality measures.

Leadership and Management

Collaborate with fellow leads to create clinical management schedules, ensuring efficient operations within the department.

Qualifications

For Employment: Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology, with a minimum of 8 years of post-residency experience in Therapy Medical Physics, including functional or technical leadership experience.

Ongoing Requirements: Maintain board certification and meet the job standards and competencies as assigned.
