Job Summary

Newport Mental Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will provide support and guidance to adults residing in our residential group home in Middletown. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the well-being and safety of our residents, while also promoting their independence and community integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to residents, helping them to develop coping skills and strategies for managing mental health challenges.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry, while promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Facilitate community connections and activities to expand social networks and promote community integration.
  • Work with residents to develop and implement individualized recovery plans, focusing on health promotion and skill development in various life domains.
  • Collaborate with families and identified supports to ensure a comprehensive and supportive environment for residents.
Requirements
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Caring and empathetic approach, with a strong commitment to promoting the well-being and dignity of individuals with mental health needs.
  • Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • 1 or more years of experience working in the human services field, preferably in a residential setting.
