Job Summary:

Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) Technicians at SUNY Upstate Medical University play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of neurosurgical, vascular, and orthopedic procedures. As a key member of the surgical team, you will be responsible for performing neurophysiological monitoring to assess the functional integrity of the peripheral and central nervous system during complex surgeries.

Our IOM Technicians are skilled in recording various procedures, including electroencephalograms, evoked potentials, compressed spectral array, electrocorticography, and topographic brain mapping. If you have a strong foundation in basic spine monitoring (SSEP, EMG, TRIG, TcMEP) and/or additional competency in vascular, mapping, posterior fossa, or advanced cases, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform neurophysiological monitoring during neurosurgical, vascular, and orthopedic procedures
  • Record and analyze various procedures, including EEG, EP, CSA, ECoG, and TBM
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure accurate and effective monitoring
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of monitoring data
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in IOM
Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in a relevant field, plus experience in basic spine monitoring and/or additional competency
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field may be considered for a trainee position
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CNIM certification
Work Environment:

Variable shifts, rotating holidays, weekends, and on-call/recall
