Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and success of neurosurgical procedures at SUNY Upstate Medical University. As a key member of the operating room team, you will be responsible for performing neurophysiological monitoring to assess the functional integrity of the peripheral and/or central nervous system during various surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct electroencephalograms, evoked potentials, compressed spectral array, electrocorticography, and topographic brain mapping to monitor neural activity
- Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure accurate and timely monitoring
- Document procedures and results in a clear and concise manner
- Develop and maintain expertise in Basic Spine (SSEP, EMG, TRIG, TcMEP) and additional competency areas
- Associates Degree in a relevant field, plus experience in IOM or related field
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be considered for a trainee position
- CNIM certification
Variable shifts, rotating holidays, weekends, and on-call/recall shifts may be required. Positions are located at the Community and Downtown campuses.
