Overview

The primary role involves executing vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on chassis and truck-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and various other machinery, adhering to dealer and manufacturer standards, either at the service facility or in the field. This position will cater to the Mid-Atlantic region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety while working in a dynamic environment, often under pressure or with time constraints, in both workshop and field/jobsite settings.
  • Alternate between shop duties and field assignments.
  • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs as required.
  • Assess the overall condition of machinery through thorough inspections.
  • Diagnose problems related to hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Promptly restore equipment to operational status.
  • Foster positive interactions with all Custom Truck One Source personnel and clients.
  • May assist with on-site servicing for clients, including complete machine setup and disassembly.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods, including overnight stays.
  • Comprehend and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, both paper and electronic, required for the role.
  • Comply with all expectations outlined in the accompanying documentation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Possession of a current CDL, Chauffeur's License, and Medical Card.
  • Proficient in onboard computer systems, electrical systems, driveline, hydraulics, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.
  • Capability to utilize a circuit tester and/or multimeter.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Experience with diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting PAT, LMI, and similar crane control systems.
  • Innovative thinking skills to facilitate continuous improvements.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical boards, crane operations, and site safety protocols.
  • Basic rigging knowledge and experience in heavy construction environments.
  • Proficient in using PC, Tablet, and Phone to maintain accurate records of all services performed.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision.
  • Must pass drug and background screenings.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-sufficient and proactive.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Completion of DOT, ANSI Crane, or Bucket and Dielectric tests is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with current crane and bucket certifications are preferred.

Working Conditions

  • The role is performed under varying temperature conditions and may involve hazardous situations.
  • Must be capable of safely operating equipment at heights exceeding 100 feet.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms above 42 inches; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8–12 hour workday, and up to 60 hours per week.
